Banalat is a leader in the green unripe bananas market in Europe and Eastern Europe. We import bananas weekly from their countries of origin - Ecuador, Costa Rica, Colombia, etc. to Europe and deliver them to customers within the European Union and other countries.

Our warehouses are designed to provide storage of fruits, including bananas and vegetables in rooms that meet modern standards, equipped with climate control, ensuring the required temperature and climate for the produce.
The “Banalat” warehouse is conveniently located in Riga, 82 Lubānas Street, inside Latvia’s largest retail warehouse zone. The total area of the company's warehouse is 3000 square meters.
In addition, the company provides a forwarding services, providing reception and weighing of fruit and vegetables, quality control, marking, palletizing and shipping to the customer.
“Banalat" SIA is one of the largest banana ripening and trade companies in Latvia at the moment, as well as one of the first in the Baltics to start ripening bananas in its ripening chambers. The total capacity of the banana chambers allows us to ripen at least 45,000 boxes of bananas each week.
Our ripening chambers are equipped with the latest generation of reverse air flow technology and some of our capacity is the innovative penthouse-type chambers. Bananas are ripened with natural ethylene gas, which has proven to be a human- and environment-friendly method of banana ripening.
The employees of our company adhere to the product quality control and safety requirements, both when receiving the product from our suppliers and when delivering it to our customers. We only work with produce that meets the minimum quality requirements for fresh fruits and vegetables (EP and Council Regulation (EC) No 852/2004).

Global Location Number certificates.
The most common banana is the Cavendish - the one we all know and love to eat fresh or in smoothies, yogurts and cakes. When yellow with green tips, it has a lovely, balanced sweetness and texture. When very ripe (and very sweet) the yellow skin will be dotted with brown spots – this is the natural sugars bursting out!
Upon receipt of the produce at our warehouse, it is subjected to a quality inspection in a specially equipped conditioned inspection area. The banana ripening process is monitored throughout the week by our professional staff, who monitor the color changes and perform regular temperature measurements. Bananas are ripened to the color required by the customer.
"Banana ripening is a fully automated process, but it must be monitored to ensure that the appropriate temperature and humidity levels are maintained. Bananas are ripened with the help of natural ethylene gas and a uniform ripeness level is achieved in five to six days, which keeps the bananas fresh for longer and increases their shelf life.
It is the customer who determines the ripeness of the bananas he wants to receive, so quality control is carried out throughout the banana ripening process and regular inspections are carried out”.
